  like creature following him down.

The bird creature was cawing, as it flew past him he heard it laugh in front of him.

Wright kept falling and every now and again would see a light shine then disappear, all

he could do was wonder what the light was. Suddenly the thought of stepping forward

came to his mind so he did and ended up landing on his stomach, when he got up he

saw a light and started to walk towards it, when he heard a man from behind him

scream at him; Wright turned around to see the pale face man now in a feathery coat

running toward him with a knife in his hand. Wright began to run for the light hoping

to get away from the strange man. At first it was as if he wasn’t going anywhere, then

suddenly the light started to get closer. When the light got close enough he saw a

meadow of flowers, when he went through the threshold he started to fall again. When

he looked up, he saw the man turn into a bird and fly down towards him. Wright

turned back around, so he was facing the ground then realized how fast the ground was

approaching him and that if he didn’t do something quickly he might die. When he was

close to the ground it disappeared again so he was face down on a black surface.

When he stood up there was writing in the air that said “You’re going to die

tomorrow.” He looked closer at it and realized it was written in dried blood, when he

tried to wipe it away the blood started to run from his hand and started to twist and

turn until it said “Your fate can’t be changed”, Wright then wiped the blood off his

hand on his pants. When he removed his hand from his pants there was no blood on his

pants or on his hand. Wright turned his hand over to see if there was any blood on the

other side but there wasn’t any. Suddenly a pool of blood began to form under

Wright’s feet, when he tried to step out, the pool of blood would form greater with

every step. Wright then fell through the pool of blood and began to feel like he was

drowning with blood surrounding him to the point he couldn’t break the surface. When

he blinked he was no longer in the pool of blood, but on a bloody table with a hatchet

coming straight down towards his head. He quickly closed his eyes realizing the

hatchet never hit him, when he opened his eyes he saw the pale man smiling. The pale

man then turned and walked away with Wright following after.

Wright followed the pale man for what seemed like hours until they reached a point

where Wright saw himself holding his gun at someone. He looked at his hands, there

was no gun, he then looked back at him holding a gun. When Wright looked back at

himself holding the gun he turned his head around, smiled, and shot the person several

times. He then turns around and puts the gun to his head and pulls the trigger. The

pain was unbearable, but when Wright put his hand to where the gunshot wound

should be there was nothing but a sharp pain. He looked at where the body should

have been but nothing was there, not even the gun. When he looked up the pale man

was standing in front of him, within a split second he threw his hands out to grab

Wright’s throat, when Wright stepped back the pale man disappeared and suddenly

Wright was in a room with four walls but no doors or windows. When Wright looked

around he saw brown walls that looked like they may have been on fire at one point.

Out of nowhere the walls started to bleed, as it was running down the wall the blood

would stick to certain places on the wall spelling out different words. The word that

showed up the most was the word “murder”, out of nowhere Wright heard a voice

speaking, every work spoke by this mysterious voice began to appear on the walls. The

voice was saying “We know what you did. We know who you are. You will never get

away with it. You killed them for no reason, now it’s your turn to die.” Wright began to

think he had no idea what that meant. The voice began to say “You know what

happened that day, you’re all alone because of it. They killed them because you killed

him for no reason, you’re the murderer not them.” The voice became more eerie by the

time it finished, the blood formed a squire, it showed a man running away and another

man shooting at him, hitting him in the back. Wright began to scream “That wasn’t me,

he was shooting at me and I was running.” Wright then began to cry and exclaim “That

wasn’t me! It wasn’t me!” He then heard something laugh as he fell to his knees still

  repeating it wasn’t him.

Out of nowhere Wright heard something crying with him, when he looked up he saw a

child covered in blood crying tears of blood, it said “Why did you kill me daddy? Why?

It hurts so bad.” Wright then felt a sharp pain in his chest, when he looked down he

saw a knife made of blood piercing his heart, he then fell to his back and couldn’t

breathe. Wright laid there for a while, when the pain left him a drop of blood landed on

his head. The tears were still falling from Wrights eyes while he was thinking about his

deceased son and wife and how he wished he could have saved them. The only thought

coming to Wright’s mind was why is this happening to me. Wright started to hear

laughing surround him, all he could do was close his eyes and hope for it to stop. When

he opened his eyes, the room he was in started to shrink little by little, all of a sudden

Wright felt that he was getting smaller too. When Wright closed his eyes and hoped for

death the room stopped shrinking and he heard something say “Now you know how

  they feel.”

Wright stood up, wiped the tears from his eyes, and looked to the left side wall; there

was a door there, he went to the door and opened it. The room was dark but he found a

light switch, when he turned on the light the room was on fire. When he tried to step

back his foot didn’t find the floor that was supposed to be there, just a black emptiness.

Wright had to quickly step into the room so he wouldn’t fall. When he go into the room

the flames turned blue and became cold as if it was sucking the heat out of the room

instead of producing heat. Wright decided to touch the flame to see how it would feel,

when he did his hand turned colder than ice. Wright looked at the fire again and saw

the pale man standing in the fire steering at him smiling. The pale man turned into a

dog with its fangs showing and growling at Wright, then for no reason turned around

and walked away with the room going dark. Wright stood there in silence anticipating

  whatever was to come.

Wright closed his eyes and saw his wife and son, she was holding the pale lifeless infant

body. His wife was in a beautiful sun dress with yellow flowers, yellow was her

favorite color. Wright started to tear up again thinking about his family and what he

should have done differently. When his wife was alive he wasn’t always the nicest

person, sometimes he would come home drunk and yell at her for little things. Now

Wright wished he had never done any of it and maybe life would have been better for

her. It was night when his wife and son died, he went out drinking with some guys

from work. When he got home he saw his wife and son laying down together both shot

in the head with a message on the wall in their blood reading, “A life for a life, now w
e

are even so stay away.” That’s when he decided to never drink again and he eventually

found who killed his wife and son and put them in jail. Wright never forgave himself

and always wished that he was home when the killers came to his house.

When Wright opened his eyes he saw in blood the same writing he did the night his

wife and son were murdered. He put his hand on the blood and saw his wife holding

their son with a gun pointing at them. Next thing Wright saw was the trigger being

pulled, he looked in the mirror only to see it was him that had pulled it; he was smiling

as if he was happy he did it. He then walked up to the body and stuck two fingers in

the head wounds, he walked towards the wall and started writing with the blood on his

fingers, he would walk back and forth until he finished. He then turned around and

saw Tony Dolengo, the man that he shot in the back. Tony was a ruthless mobster who

took pride in the way he killed people. Tony was the type of guy that if his mother

upset him he would kill her and that’s the same with anyone in his family. When he

looked at Tony, Wright wanted to shoot him again but the gun would not upholster

and he walked out of the house right behind him. When they exited the house Tony

disappeared and Wright was back in the dark void, staring at the writing reading it

  over and over.

Wright looked down at his hands and saw the gun that was used to kill his wife and

son and then heard his wife say “Please don’t kill us we didn’t do anything “ before he

knew it the gun was rising up and was pointed at his wife. Wright closed his eyes and

heard two gunshots and knew his wife had died again. Tears started to fall down his

cheeks as his eyes were closed and he knew he could never accept his wife’s death. He

opened his eyes and saw the pale man and Tony standing side by side. Wright was

staring at them when the pale man and Tony started to laugh. Wright yelled at them to

stop and let him be alone in his grief. Tony then put one hand on Wrights shoulder and

told him it’s his fault that his family is dead and if he had never gone to the bar that

night they would still be alive. After Tony was done tormenting Wright he disappeared

along with the pale man. After a while a black cat appeared and sat down in front of

Wright staring at him. A black bird came and flew to the cats head, when it got close

enough Wright could see that it was a raven, the messenger of death himself, and the

only bird to carry the souls of the dead. The raven landed on the cats head and said

“How dare you” in a cawing voice.

Wright remembered a story he heard as a kid about the raven and how it would ride on

deaths shoulder. The raven was named Despair and would eat the souls of the dead to

deliver them to hell. Despair had a sister named Hope who rode on the right shoulder

of Death. Hope would take the souls to heaven and in a case of a wrongful death,

would bring the soul back to the world of the living and give the person a second

chance. The ravens would always caw over a soul on whether or not to send it to

heaven or hell and when they could not decide, they would consult Death and Death

would take it and send it to purgatory. Until the ravens could decide where to send the

soul, the ravens had another job that was to protect the souls from Death in case he

wanted to eat the soul. The ravens were handpicked by Death because of their black

feathers and how souls could not take them over while they were in their stomachs

waiting to arrive in heaven or hell.

Wright thought that the raven had to be Despair because the raven was cold and had an

awful aura round it. If the raven had lips, he would be licking them as if waiting to

devour Wright’s tasty soul for its dinner. Wright then saw the raven and the cat become

one and turn into a three headed dog with the middle head bearing its teeth and the

other two with their mouth shut and eyes closed as if they were sleeping. Wright knew

this was the same face he had seen in room 333. Suddenly the other two heads opened

their eyes and began to howl as if summoning someone. The pale man then walked up

behind the three headed dog smiling and bearing fangs like the middle head was doing.

The pale man walked past the three headed dog and walked in front of Wright and told

him he would never escape this hell. When Wright tried to talk nothing came out, all he

could do was stand there and try to tell the pale man to leave him alone. The pale man

then brought his head close to Wright’s left ear and asked him if Wright knew who he

  was now.

“Tony” Wright said as the pale man brought his head back and smirked at him and told

him that he was at the gates of heaven but wasn’t allowed in. Tony then started to tell

Wright what hell was like and that it wasn’t as bad as the bible said it was, “It’s just a

little hot that’s all”, Tony told Wright. Tony then looked at Wright and told him that his

beloved wife was also there and that God didn’t want a whore like her stinking up

heaven. “Four years I waited to see you again Detective, four years before the Lord of

the damned let me come back to make you suffer and it was worth it every second.”

Tony said to Wright as Wright looked at him with distress in his eyes. Tony promised

Wright that until tomorrow he was going to make the rest of his life a living hell and

that when the sun sets he was going to kill Wright. Wright tried to step back from Tony

but he couldn’t move, he just stood there looking at Tony. Wright then told Tony that

he wasn’t going to let him kill anyone else and that he was going to find a way to stop

him. Tony laughed at him and asked him how are you going to do that I’m already

  dead.

When Tony was done talking to Wright he stepped back and turned around and

walked towards the three headed dog, the dog’s middle head then ate Tony and licked

its lips. The dog then turned into the raven and flew away. Wright was alone in the

dark again and for the first time in his life he was afraid of the dark, the unknown of

what was going to happen. Wright wanted to leave, not even to continue his

investigation, just leave the asylum and never come back. Wright also felt his own

mortality slip through his fingers as if it was water. Wright started to walk, he did not

know where but at least he could move his legs again and maybe he would find a way

out of this darkness. Wright saw a bright light and he remembered what happened the

last time he ran towards the light so he turned to the left and started walking that way

he was over falling into nothingness. After a few steps he heard someone call his name,

when he looked around there was no one there so he took a few more steps and heard

his name yet again, he then looked at the bright light and heard his name again. He

decided maybe this time it wouldn’t hurt to walk towards the light maybe this time it’s

something good, he doubted it but there is always a chance.

When Wright got to the light he saw the outside of the asylum, there was a shadowy

figure running from it after he jumped from the third story and headed towards the

west gate, then disappeared with the bag he was holding landing on the ground. He

then saw a man come out from the bushes and pick up
a piece of glass only to smash it

on the ground. He then saw a bright light, when it cleared he was in the pharmacy

watching a man take the medication from the room and put them into a bag. Wright

saw the man pick up an axe then leave the room, only to stop and stare at something

then raise the axe and swung it downward. The man then looked back in the room right

where Wright was, then he ran towards the east hallway with the bright light leaving

just as quickly as it appeared. Wright was filled with a freezing sensation all over his

body, as he looked around for something that might keep him warm he saw the man in

the top hat laughing, but he could not hear the laughter. Wright started to walk towards

him, as he did the man stopped laughing and looked at him right in the eyes while

grinning; it didn’t seem like a happy grin to Wright so he stopped as the man took

something out of his pocket only to throw it at Wright, when it hit the ground he picked

it up. It was a card. On the card it read “Walter Hemingway” and under that it had the

word “Evil Extraordinaire”puzzled Wright looked up at the man as he grinned again

then vanished into the void. Out of nowhere Wright heard someone say “Welcome to

my home, sorry for not introducing myself when you got here but I was busy with

another matter that needed my attention. Just so you know, now that you’re here you

won’t be able to leave” then the voice laughed. The voice sound as though it came from

a British man, Wright thought it might have been that Walter Hemingway man that he

saw. Wright suddenly started to feel the ground move beneath his feet then he started

to fall, he didn’t know where this time but he could make out the sound of gunshots

and screams coming from somewhere, then he heard a female voice call his name and

he knew it was his wife. The British voice started talking again and said “There was

nothing you could do, you’re a drunk you need to drink, who cares that you could have

stopped it if only you were home and not drinking “, Wright tried to find where the

voice was coming from, as he yelled, “You don’t know what happened.” Suddenly

Wright was surrounded by newspapers that reported the death of his wife and son he

tried to swipe the papers away but every time it was like making waves in water, it
