Murder the Game Page 6
it was a fire that was producing the light and not a light bulb. When Wright got to the
light just as he had thought, it was a torch, but who uses torches anymore he couldn’t
remember the last time he had seen a torch. Wright took it out of its holster and carried
it just in case there wasn’t going to be another one anytime soon. Wright was right to
take the torch, it was the only one all the way down to the bottom.
When Wright looked around there was a bunch of walls that looked like it might be a
maze, however, there was no light except from the torch he had. Wright was
wondering why there was a maze down here and what they didn’t light it up with light
bulbs, maybe it was to hide the fact it was down here. Wright heard several screams
coming from inside the maze and even though he didn’t want to, he felt that there was
something on the other end of the maze that he needed to see. Wright looked around
and saw that he was now in a huge underground cave with God knows what’s down
there. He looked at the wall and saw a small opening that went deeper into the cave.
Wright walked to the entrance where there was a little map carved into the wal so he
studied it for a moment. The map didn’t show the way out, it just showed that it was a
maze, and from what Wright could see it would be hard to memorize the map because
it looked long. If there were any traps to prevent people from getting to the other side
they were not on the map so Wright had to proceed with caution. Wright looked at the
other wall and saw tally marks on a paper. There were two sections, one section said
failed and the other said passed. There were twelve tally marks, all of them being on the
failed section.
As soon as Wright stepped into the maze he felt immense heat, he was happy that he
could feel it even though it was almost unbearable. Wright started walking hoping he
was walking the right way, he didn’t want to get stuck in this maze let alone die in the
maze. The heat never got worse the deeper he went in, Wright was happy for that, at
least it was getting more bearable. Wright touched the wall, it was burning hot; hot
enough to fry an egg on it, if you could keep the egg on the wall long enough to fry.
Wright looked at the wall, there were two arrows one pointing up and the other
pointing behind him, all he could do with that is ignore it and hope that without the
arrows pointing in the right direction he could find his way out. Wright wished he
could believe the arrows but with so many he knew there was no way he can but maybe
some arrows told the truth.
Wright remembered a story in Greek mythology about a maze that lead to the
underworld. The maze would shift and change to confuse people so they wouldn’t
make it through the maze. Some people made it through the maze but a lot of people
died trying to get through. They went in through the maze to visit Hades wife and then
leave by smashing a pearl that would take them back to the world of the living. Another
side of the story was one of demigods used that way to rescue his father from Hades,
who was trying to take over the world. When people would travel through the maze
some would get crushed when the walls and floors would shift, others would die from
starvation, and many would fall to their death in the lake of lava. Wright was happy
that this maze wasn’t that maze.
Wright maybe walked half a mile before he came to a stop where it went left, right, and
straight there were three arrows; one pointing left, one right, and one behind him so
Wright went left to see if that was the way. Wright was walking when there was an
arrow that pointed up, he looked up and this thing fell on top of him. Wright quickly
threw whatever that thing was off of him then looked at it, the top of the head was
blown out and from what he could tell it was a missing person that he saw on the police
station billboard. The corpse was maybe about 2 years old and surprisingly well
preserved but it looked a little mangled. Wright got up and started to walk again when
he reached a dead end he thought to himself that that was not a good sign. On the wall
was claw marks and blood that looked like it’s been dry for a while. When Wright
looked closely at the claw marks it looked like it might be a big dog or maybe a tiger.
The thought of a tiger on his chest came back into his mind as he cringed at the thought.
Wright turned around and saw the beast that was almost as big as the walkway, it
roared loudly as it got ready to attack him. Wright got ready to run, when the beast
started to charge him Wright saw an opening and took it. Wright ran straight at him
and at the last moment went to the right side as the beast ran past him and Wright
continued to run so he could get some space between the two of them.
The thought of another beast after him frightened Wright, or maybe it was the same one
that chased him earlier. Maybe the room with the corpses led down here and the beast
came down that way but how would it know that I was down here. There had to be a
reasonable explanation of what was going on, maybe Wright was just imagining
everything, that had to be it. Wright heard the roar of the beast again and kept running
until he came up to the four direction intersection, he decided to go straight, maybe that
was the way out and hopefully he could get out before that thing found him. While
Wright was running he turned right after a while and straight into another dead end,
then he saw the beast run past him. Wright quickly ran out and straight for the
intersection and this time he turned right and headed straight for about thirty steps
when he heard the roar again. Trying to run faster Wright ran into a wall and fell over,
he quickly got up looked around and turned left and continued for a while, then
stopped to catch his breath and started to listen for the beast to see if it might be coming
his way.
Wright kept walking and turning left or right randomly and turning around when he
reached a dead end. At one dead end he saw a picture of a monkey with his hands over
his eyes but had little slits through the fingers. Underneath it was Howard B. Unruh,
the name of a mass murder from 1949, he lived in New Jersey and killed thirteen
people. When Wright said the name blood started to come out of the eyes. He turned
around and started to walk away with that monkey in his mind trying to think of what
it could mean. Wright knew it had something to do with one of the evil monkeys but
why was this one peeking out? What was the name under it? Why was there blood
coming out and from where it didn’t make any sense to Wright. Wright stopped and
looked around while he was running, he forgot to keep track of where he was and now
he knew he was lost. He started to walk straight when he found that he could go down
or up. He figured that he come up from the direction the lead down so he went up.
After making a few right turns then a few left turns Wright came to another dead end,
but this dead end had a monkey that had his hands cupped around his mouth as if to
speak louder with something written underneath the image. Wright wiped it and saw
the name Andrew Kehoe. Andrew Kehoe bombed a school in 1927, killing forty-five
people, most of them being children. After Wrigh
t wiped it clean the mouth of the
monkey started to bleed, he then heard the beast closing in behind him. He quickly
turned around and ran as if his life was endangered, as for all he knew it was. He
turned left and right, getting more lost but as long as that thing didn’t find him he
didn’t care at the moment. Wright turned left and had to quickly stop, right in front of
him was a pit. He heard the beast roar again, this time it was a little further away so he
still had time to turn around and get away. When Wright turned around he saw
another beast, this time it was the size of your average human but with matted hair and
long teeth. This thing growled at Wright then lowered its head and howled while
slowly approaching Wright.
Wright threw his torched at the human like thing and ran past it, when it tried to hide
from it. Wright ran as fast as he could, he then heard it howl and knew it was coming
after him. The thought of how many of these things were in this maze came to his mind.
He kept running but it seemed like he was backtracking, then suddenly he saw the first
beast from the beginning of the maze. Wright turned around to try and out run it but
when he did he saw the human like beast standing directly in front of him with
yellowish green eyes. Wright felt helpless and didn’t know what to do, he didn’t see
any way out of this, if there was just one there was a way out but now he just didn’t
know. Wright didn’t have his torch any more so he couldn’t use that trick again. He
thought about running and screaming at the smaller beast maybe that would work, hell
it’s all he’s got. If that failed he could try to hit him against the wall, it might hurt him
enough to slow him down because of how hot it is.
Wright faced the human like beast and ran towards him screaming, while all it did was
roar at him. When Wright got close to him he moved a little to the right to hit his side so
he could knock him into the wall. Wright hit it on the shoulder and it went straight into
the wall but before it hit the wall it disappeared, then reappeared behind him unhurt. It
roared at Wright then started to walk towards him, so Wright started to run hoping he
could out run something that could disappear and manifest again. Wright kept running
until he found a turn, he took it then pressed his body against the wall, as he did he
saw the human like beast run past on all fours. He then ran down the hallway he was in
and turned left only to see it was a dead end.
Wright looked at the wall and saw another monkey, this time the monkey cupped his
ears as if to hear better. Underneath was another name, it was Jack G. Graham, Jack G.
Graham killed 44 people including his mother in 1955. Wright wanted to know what
the monkeys and the names meant, they didn’t have any similarities. Wright saw blood
start to flow from the ears of the monkey, he then quickly turned around to run so he
could get away from the smell of blood, the beasts could probably smell it. Wright
started to go the way the arrows were not pointing and hoped that would lead him out
before the beasts caught up to him again. Wright finally felt like he was making some
progress when he heard something roar behind him, when he turned around it was the
smaller beast. Wright did the only thing he could, he started to run. After making a few
right and left turns he came to another dead end with a pit. Wright turned around and
saw the beast staring at him, getting ready to attack him. The beast charged at him full
speed as Wright stood there waiting. Wright jumped out of the way when it got close,
he got up and turned around to see if the beast had fallen into the pit but the beast was
just floating there. Wright stared with amazement and thought to himself, well shit this
sucks. He turned around and started to run again, the beast roared and ran after him
and gaining fast.
Wright was trying to lose the beast but it stayed about twenty steps behind him. He
kept turning left and right trying to lose it but it stayed there behind him, then without
warning it was gone, Wright stopped to catch his breath hoping it wouldn’t show up
again but he knew it would. After he caught his breath Wright started to walk again
listening for any sounds that would alert him to one or both the beast behind or in front
of him. Wright stopped in the middle of a four way intersection and looked around
only to see no arrows he could use. Wright decided to go straight hoping that was the
right way; after a while he found a light, he ran to it, it was a torch he picked it up and
saw some writing on the wall. The writing was carved into the wall and said “Don’t
turn left, don’t turn right, don’t go behind, stray from the path and be lost forever in the
Maze of Hell” Wright kept walking straight until he came to a right or left turn he
decided left would be the best option. He came up to another right or left turn, this time
he went right hoping that he would soon find his way out, but it lead to a dead end
with another monkey on it. This monkey had his hands straight up in the air, the
writing under it said surrender to evil. He expected blood to come out of the monkey so
he turned and walked away after a few steps he heard a loud roar come from behind
him he looked over his shoulder and saw the big beast behind him.
Wright’s only thought was oh shit not again, he started to run in hopes of getting away
after going straight and turning left and right and left again he looked behind him to
see nothing was following him. The thought of that big thing being able to disappear
and manifest out of nowhere wright slowed done to a brisk walk being alert just in case
he had to start running again. Wright finally saw an arch and he knew he finally made
it to the end and he was happy he was almost out of the maze he just hoped he didn’t
have to come the same way to get out of the this underground cave. Wright decided to
walk he was tired of running, his legs were sore so he walked kind of slow but with a
sense of purpose. It seemed like it took a long time to get there but he finally got to the
arch, which made him very happy. Wright stepped through the arch and saw stairs
leading up and Tony waiting for him there with an eerie smirk on his face. Tony
laughed and told Wright that he didn’t make it to the exit that he was back where he
started.
Tony asked Wright if he liked his little pets from hell, to which Wright looked at him
confused. Tony reminded him about the two beast that kept following him, Wright
asked Tony why he sent those things after him if he didn’t want him dead yet. Tony
smirked and laughed and told Wright that he wants him dead but would prefer to do it
himself, but he is also willing to let one of his pets do it. Wright then asked him why he
should believe him that he’s back where he started to that Tony just laughed and
disappeared. Wright turned around and saw the paper with the tally marks and knew
Tony was right. Wright walked back into the maze but this time he had a plan he was
going to go the way the arrows didn’t point to. Wright kept walking doing what he
planned on until he heard both of Tony’s pets howl. Wright began to walk more briskly
so he could run, even though he didn’t want to run anymore. Wright went every way
>
the arrows told him not to and reached a place where there were four monkeys. Wright
recognized three of them but not the fourth one, he had no idea what it was. The fourth
monkey had his hands in his lap.
Wright heard the monsters behind him howling and roaring, the sounds were coming
up from behind him fast so he started to run to hopefully get out of the maze before
they found him. He tried to pay attention to which way the arrows were pointing, he
thought he went away the arrow pointed but he didn’t want to head back to check
because of the monsters. Underneath the pictures it said “See evil, speak evil, hear evil,
and do evil don’t follow the monkeys.” Wright looked confused at the pictures and the
words written alongside them wondering what it all meant. Wright then heard the roar
again so he started to run trying to follow his plan, not knowing if it will even work.
Wright came to a crossroad and two arrows pointing to the only two directions there
were. He decided to go left and hoped he didn’t make a mistake and have to backtrack
and run into the monsters again. The ceiling started to get lower as Wright started to
think it was a trap, maybe he should turn back. If it did keep getting smaller then he
might get stuck with the big monster and the little on might be able to reach him.
Wright continued to walk until it got too small for him to walk upright so he crouched
down and thought about going back, then he heard a howl and knew that was no
longer an option. He hurried so he could get to a lower point so the big monster
wouldn’t be able to maul him to death but starving to death didn’t sound much better
either. Wright finally got to a crawl space that opened up and he could stand upright
again, hopefully that would prevent the monsters from coming after him or that they
weren’t there anymore. He saw some signs that said “exit” and others that said “wrong
way”, he wished he could believe that sign that said “exit” but he kept walking until he
came to another crossroad. This time there was no arrows so he went right, this time
hoping it was the right way. Wright saw another arch and this time it had two torches
on the walls so he ran to it, this time hoping that it wasn’t another entrance; as he was
running he dropped the torch that he had in his hand. When Wright got to the two
